Pisces Biblical Astrology Interpretation

(i) Pisces Biblical Astrology Introduction

Pisces Biblical Astrology explores the significance of Pisces in relation to Biblical Scripture and the evolution of consciousness in man. Pisces is represented astrologically in the image below :

Pisces_bible_astrology

As we have seen from a previous article, the ancients started the zodiac cycle at VIRGO representing Virgin consciousness and ended with LEO (ruled by the Sun) or Christ consciousness :

Pisces Biblical Astrology

Pisces is significant in that it is the 6th sign just before the 7th which is Aquarius & is associated with the New Spiritual Age. Mary asked Jesus to fill  6 stone pots with water which he converted to wine (John Chapter 2) , the wine representing spirit (which is intoxicating).

Upper Fish = higher consciousness, looking upwards, our higher aspirations

Lower Fish = lower consciousness which prevents the higher from ascending

They also represent the two sides of Pisces which are well known in modern astrology: the spiritual/intuitive aspect and the reckless, addictive lower aspect.

The symbol for Jesus was the fish and is represented by Christian figures such as the pope wearing a fish hat:

Pisces Biblical Astrology

The Aquarian Age is here and so with the ending of Pisces, the 6th age we go into the 7th, the Sabbath, with Aquarius. It corresponds to the 7th chakra and the 7th city in the Book of Revelation.

John 21 : 6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find.

This refers to the right spiritual side of man, so casting your net means putting your awareness to the spiritual side through meditation enables you to catch the upper fish (higher consciousness) of Pisces.

153 fish were caught and 1 + 5 + 3 = 9, the number of UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS.

For a detailed account of the loaves and fishes miracle click here.

Matthew 4: 17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

18And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

Matthew 4 : 19And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

This is implying that his disciples will have to put everything they know and own to one side and follow Jesus to be the true fishermen i.e. find God and be an example for others to follow.

Both are struggling to get free and yet both are tied. The band that ties them is fastened to Cetus (The Sea Monster). In the diagram below the fishes are in the upper right corner:

Pisces Biblical Astrology

So Cetus is holding BOTH fishes in bondage.

There are 3 decans of Pisces :

  1. The Band

      2. Andromeda  (The Chained Woman)

      3. Cepheus (The Crowned King)

(ii) The Three Decans of Pisces and their Biblical Astrology

  1. The Band

Ties the Fishes tails together. This is understood by the fact that it is a RESTRICTING quality that binds the upper and lower consciousness or the 2 fishes respectively. It is the tie that binds the two. The role of Jesus in freeing them

The Piscean age is the 6th age, and is the age of preparation for the Aquarian age. Jesus says when you see the man with the pitcher of water enter the upper room :

Luke 22: 10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water

Pisces Biblical Astrology

Psalm 107 : 13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

distresses = unable to grow spiritually

Psalm 107 : 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

band = constellation which controls the 2 fish of Pisces. He frees their higher consciousness which has been restricted be its tie to the lower

2. Andromeda (The Chained Woman)

The image below shows the decan of Andromeda in relation to Pisces:

Pisces Biblical Astrology

There are 63 stars in the constellation of Andromeda. 6 + 3 = 9. The chained woman is the human spirit which is chained. We have seen from previous articles in the Mystic Bible section that ‘woman’ represents either the emotions or the human spirit. She is chained like the fishes to the sea monster Cephus.

Al Phiratz = bright star in the head of the woman and this name means ‘broken down’. When our life is hard and our spirit  chained, our life seems broken in these moments.

Al Amak = star in left foot which means ‘struck down’

Isaiah 52 : 2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

shake thyself from the dust = see the spiritual light and come out of your lower mind into higher consciousness.

Jerusalem = higher consciousness

captive daughter = Andromeda

Zion = Mount Zion, meaning a place ‘raised up’.

In this verse it is saying that the spirit (Andromeda) of the higher consciousness (Jerusalem) is chained and needs to be set free.

3. Cepheus (The Crowned King)

The redeemer coming to rule.

Pisces Biblical Astrology

Cepheus =  translates into ‘The BRANCH.’

Al Deramin = star in right shoulder means ‘come quickly’

Al Phirk = bright star in his abdomen which means ‘the redeemer’

Al Roi = a bright star in his left thigh which means ‘he who breaks’ This refers to him breaking the bands which tie the two fishes or aspects of Pisces together.

John 15 : 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The redeemer is the Christ (or Krishna)  Consciousness within us

(iii) Conclusions

Through a study of the decans of Pisces we are reminded of the bondage that is present between the higher consciousness and lower nature. Both are tied to earthly things ( Cetus, The Sea Monster).. this is not Cepheus which represents the third decan. The latter or Christ (Krishna) consciousness come to break the band (first decan) and bondage of the dual aspects of man.

The Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes

(i) The Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes Introduction

The Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes puts a mystical and astrological perspective on the feeding of the multitudes which if we interpret literally makes little sense. Like much of the Bible this story is allegorical and so we must look for a hidden meaning behind this important Biblical event. The numbers that occur in the text below are common throughout the Bible as they represent specific aspects of God and Man and the relationship between the two.

(ii) Traditional Story

Crowds of people in the area heard that Jesus was near. They ran to see him, bringing their sick friends and relatives. When the boat landed, Jesus saw all the men, women and children and had compassion for them. He taught them about the Kingdom  of God and healed those who were sick.

Looking at the crowd, which numbered about 5,000 men, not counting women and children, Jesus asked his disciple Phillip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?”

Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes

Philip replied that even eight months’ wages would not be enough to give each person even one bite of bread.

Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, had more faith in Jesus. He brought forward a young boy who had five small loaves of barley bread and two small fish.

Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes

Jesus ordered the crowd to sit down in groups of fifty. He took the five loaves, looked up to heaven, gave thanks to God his Father, and passed them to his disciples to be distributed. He did the same with the two fish.

Everyone—men, women and children—ate as much as they wanted! Jesus miraculously multiplied the loaves and fishes so there was more than enough.

Then he told his disciples to gather the leftovers so nothing was wasted. They collected enough to fill 12 baskets.

Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes

The crowd was so overwhelmed by this miracle that they understood Jesus was the prophet who had been promised. Knowing they would want to force him to become their king, Jesus fled from them.

(iii) Mystical Interpretation of the Loaves and Fishes

2 Fishes = Higher and Lower Consciousness of Pisces

Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes

Loaves = are linked to the wheat of Virgo, as the Virgin has a shaft of wheat :

Miracle of The Loaves and Fishes

Virgo = Virgin consciousness and in a place of no thought in meditation. This is where the ‘bread’ or TRUTH of the virgin is consumed, we will then be filled with the wine (of spirit) and be intoxicated with its divinity.

“Meditation starts when thought stops”  describes Virgin Consciousness.

In the verses below we have the feeding of the 4000:

Mathew 15 : 34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the brokenmeat that was left seven baskets full.

38And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

In the above verse we have the numbers:

Seven (Baskets of Leftovers) = divine intervention (of spirit on man)

Four (thousand) = the 4 fold nature of man (physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual)

So the internal message is the spirit descending into man spiritualizing him when he enters virgin consciousness (and consumes the wheat) through meditation.

In the second example we have the feeding of the 5000 :

Matthew 14 : 17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18He said, Bring them hither to me.

19And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

Here we have the numbers:

5 (thousand) = the 5 senses are sacrificed in the nothingness of meditation. these are the 5 wounds of Christ :

12 baskets of leftovers = twelve is the number of perfection of the soul e.g. the  12 Labors of Hercules by Alice Bailey

(iii) Conclusion

From the above we can conclude that the ability of God to Enlighten man is unlimited. The story uses numbers to convey the meaning of the story. We start with virgin consciousness (an empty mind) to allow divine intervention/spirit/ the light and sound (seven baskets of leftovers) on our 4 fold nature  (the 4000)  to act and achieve perfection as we unite with God (12 baskets of leftovers, 12 labors of Hercules) when the five senses ( the 5000, 5 wounds of Christ) are sacrificed. So the multitudes are fed SPIRITUALLY not physically.

Thoth Lust Tarot Card Tutorial

Thoth Lust Tarot Card Tutorial

My new YouTube channel is : Thoth Tarot Videos. The major arcana videos are yet to be remade.

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

(ii) Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Overview of the Thoth Lust Tarot Card

  • Challenges conventional views on what a spiritual path and spiritual teacher/teachings should be like & what qualities they should have.
  • We are not going to be punished by a God who has moral issues against our actions. Guilt and self-inflicted punishment is not necessary in our life.
  • Lust implies we can experience life with situations which are not necessarily conventional but if we have natural talents we should develop them but on the other hand we should not just indulge in our wanton desires (Debauch, seven of cups).

Lust  in its higher sense is the bliss of experiencing integration with something higher than yourself.

  • It can relate to the intense attraction between polar opposites in general. So in the Lovers Card we have separation into opposites and this creates a ‘tension’ that naturally wants to be resolved.
  • Lust is also connected to the sexual act and therefore creation and life but it is also very much about death and dissolving our identity into something higher and so philosophically this card covers a lot of ground !
  • Crowley also wanted to portray this card as bringing in the new Aeon of Horus, ruled by Aquarius and Leo. Details of the Three Aeons can be accessed in a previous article.

(iii) Rider Waite Strength Tarot Card

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

This card depicts the gentle control (hands)  of the passions  and animal instincts (Lion) by the higher self (lady in white), with spirit working through her (leminscate above her head).

(iv) Thoth Lust Tarot Card and the Tree of Life

lust_thoth_treeoflife_tarot-2

On the Tree of Life the pathway of the Lust Card  connects Chesed (Mercy) to Geburah (Power) and these are the highest ideals on the Tree of Life below the abyss so there is a high vibration to the Thoth Lust Tarot Card as it is NOT on the lower part of the Tree. Even though this card in its lowest aspect can relate to things like deviant sexuality, the spiritual component of the passion is its highest expression. This is supported by the fact that its path on the Tree of Life is dissected by the High Priestess Card linking Tiphareth to Kether and so there is a connection with this very important pathway that forms the Ethical triad:

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Chesed is concerned with structure and building up whilst Geburah is destructive and so we have 2 opposite processes on the Tree of Life linking this card. The Thoth Lust Tarot Card places emphasis on the expression of  passion in our life and living in the moment, always being prepared to cast off  the old and bring in the new using the creative and destructive energies of these two sephira.

There is a saying:

Newness needs room to grow

The upper portion of the card emphasises this and is described in the symbology section below.

(v) Thoth Lust Tarot Card Hebrew and Astrological Attribution

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Lust is represented by the letter TETH which means a serpent. There are two aspects to the serpent :

(i) Lowest Expression : sexuality, sexual deviancy, lower mind , earthly things (the serpent crawls on the ground and has a close association with the earth see Bill Donahue interpretation . We have the seven deadly sins:

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

(ii) Highest Expression : Kundalini serpent = a divine energy in the base of the spine which rises through the chakra system.

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

The serpent is also seen in the top part of the Thoth card and is symbolic of renewal and growth as the serpent sheds its skin.

It is associated with the zodiac sign of LEO : The Lion is known as the King of the Beasts having courage and leadership. We need courage to be able to accept all of who we are and continue on merging with the ecstasy of spirit despite all the temptations of the world

(vi)  Thoth Lust Tarot Card  Symbology

(a) Middle Third of Lust Card

Scarlet woman (Babalon)  = represents the desires and pull of the lower nature & to this end Crowley refers to his personal Lovers as the Scarlet Woman. The image below shows how someone has depicted her.

Exhibiting ecstasy holding up the Holy Grail:

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Holy Grail = in her right hand (right side = spiritual) .I’m not sure whether the artist of this picture knew about the High Priestess connection to the Tree of Life but they have the Moon’s energies flowing into the cup. With this card we might have a mixture of the Moon’s positive and negative energies flowing into this cup hence the ‘battle’ we have controlling the energy of this card. She is touching her breasts and vagina as if to imply a strong sexual passion. Crowley says that the energy of the moon also intermingles with the Sun’s energies within the cup. It contains the male and female sexual fluids and therefore contains life and death , birth death and renewal again.

We  have the kundalini energy depicted and if we look close enough we can see this shape arising out of the cup :

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Red Reins = in her left hand. The left side is the carnal side, the right the spiritual and so for example in the Bible we have the Garden of Eden in the East (or right side of the compass). Red is for passion and the reins symbolise her connection to the beast or our lower nature.

Lion Serpent = symbolic of the phallus. The scarlet woman is looking at this and it has 13 rays emanating from its head.

13 rays = 13 is the number of the Hebrew words for Love (Achad) and Unity (Ahbah) added together as in the Book of the Law Crowley states :

There is no bond that can unite the divided but love: all else is a curse (AL1:41)

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

7 Heads of the Beast =  symbolic of the aspects of Crowley himself as stated in the Book of Lies ch 49 :

1. Angel = his mission. Angel is essentially the spiritual impulse within.

2. Saint = of the Gnostic Catholic Church

3. Poet = his interest.

4. Adulterous Woman = his sexual preferences.

5. Man of Valour = description of himself.

6. Satyr = one of a class of lustful, drunken woodland gods in Greek mythology as shown in the image below

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

7. Lion Serpent = Leo was his ascendant.

(b) Upper Third of Lust Card

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Horizon = the dawn of a new life, or a new perspective of life.

10 circular emanations  = 10 energised sephiroth of the Tree of Life. This implies our life has been energised/ spiritualised both internally and externally. They also appear below the horizon and so again we have the axiom : as above so below. These circles or sephira are not ordered though as on the Tree of Life as a new Aeon is dawning and they will need reorganising into this new energy.

10 horns = of the beast are serpent like and they destroy the old  order to recreate a new Aeon, a similar meaning is found at the bottom of the card with the Beast trampling the Saints.

(c) Lower Third of Lust Card

Beast Trampling on Saints = the beast ignores their ‘purity’ as they are in denial of their nature as humans. We all have a carnal side and if it is repressed it can be just as easily be a burden to us as always relenting to it would be. Therefore Buddha talked of the middle way. The figures in the Lust Tarot Card are supposed to resemble the shape of the hebrew letter SHIN:

         Thoth Lust Tarot Card

Shin is associated with the Aeon Card (lower left symbol ) whereby the old religious orders are replaced by a new philosophy :

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

(vii)  Thoth Lust Tarot Card and Book of Revelations

Crowley uses the term Babalon and in reality it is synonymous with the meaning of the word Babylon in the Bible.

I have talked about the allegory of Babylon in Revelations 14  which can be accessed here. However Crowley’s card depicts the Scarlet Woman and Beast which are mentioned in Revelation 17 below so we will consider them as part of the interpretation of this card.

Interpretation of Revelation 17

It is beyond the scope of this article to go into the fine detail of this scripture but the principle is the same as that described in detail in Revelation 14. Revelation 17 describes the overcoming of the lower nature by the spiritual impulse.

Revelation 17 : 1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:

2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

7 heads = 7 chakras

10 horns = sephira on Tree of Life

4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

scarlet = passions

cup = grail where the alchemy of her actions takes place.

5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

the lower nature sucks in all.

7And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

angel = spiritual impulse within will give the seeker distance from the attractions of the lower nature if it is listened to and meditated upon.

(viii) Thoth Lust Card And Sex Magick

In summary Babalon is the Scarlet Woman (Crowley’s lovers) representing the carnal desires, the Beast (Crowley) is awakened by her attractiveness to him. The beast also represents OUR lower desires being activated by the Scarlet Woman or OUR worldly attachments.

We must remind ourselves of the lofty position of this card on the Tree of Life and that also it is a part of the Major Arcana sequence and therefore relevant to a spiritual journey and so joining in ecstasy with the highest of impulses will quicken our spiritual progress.

Used for the highest purpose we can transform this sex energy upwards to become spiritually aware, and a new Aeon awakens in our life (Light on horizon), with our new world needing readjusting (sephira) as our old perspective dies (snakes horns) due to the alchemy of sex magic (Kundalini Raising) from the Holy Grail.

(ix) The Fortune to Lust Transition

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

In the Wheel of Fortune we know that change is about to happen and soon. We may also need to alter our present course, move things in a different direction or turn things around to ensure that you are creating the right outcomes in our life. As a result of choices opening up to us we are directed to follow the path in which we have a PASSION for life as represented by the lust card. The trap of this step is that the passions that we follow are either going to lead us towards our spiritual goal or away from them. We must be discerning about what put our energies into. We must fully accept ourselves as a whole so repressing the instinctive desires is not desirable. We are encouraged to rejoice in them with this card but accept them for what they are and be able to step out of the attachments they bring to raise our consciousness into spirit through developing passions for a higher expression such as Tantric Yoga:

Thoth Lust Tarot Card

(x) Thoth Lust Tarot Card Divinatory Meanings

Leo is a FIRE sign  which combines with Crowley’s sexual imagery to make interpretations of this card  focus around our energy and passions !

Feeling a new impulse for creative growth in your life The dance of Life becomes precious and you connect with what gives you the most passion.

Every moment is a new beginning and once the depth of each moment is perceived there is an ‘ecstasy’ about just ‘being’. The past no longer holds us, there is only the moment. This is allowing our creative force to flow through us, driven by our passion and unburdened by our past.

Thoth Lust Upright

Thoth Lust Tarot Card1. Relates to having the desire (passion) for a particular situation

2. Engaging with life to the fullest.

3. Accepting our instinctive/carnal/animal nature or things which are not usually considered ‘spiritual’. Not repressing them but making sure that we have a conscious control of them.

4. Using courage to follow our passions that serve for our highest good.

5. Sexual Union/passionate relationship with sexual/emotional intensity.

6. Being comfortable with your sexuality.

7. Doing something because you are passionate about it and WITHOUT  over  analysing the situation. Lust does not have reason.

Thoth Lust Reversed

Thoth Lust Tarot Card1. Emotions and sexuality/ sexual deviance are ruling your life to the detriment of your spirituality

2. A lack of passion for your particular job, partner, life circumstance.

3. Being sexually dominated in a relationship or lack of sex drive/unable to connect with this part of you.

4. Struggling with your sexuality.

5. Habitual reckless actions leading to bad outcomes.

(xi) Thoth Lust Tarot Card in the Celtic Cross Spread

Thoth Lust Tarot Card1: Heart of the Situation = do we have enough passion for this situation, person, job

2: Possible obstacle =  a relationship which is lacking passion/love/spark

3: Unconscious Influences = a tendency to act without thinking of the consequences.

4: Recent Past = sexual/emotional upheavals

5: Hopes and goals = to find something in life that really fires us up inside.

6: Short Term Future = need inner strength and resolve to work through some emotional situation

7: How we are dealing with this situation = using inner strength to overcome emotional hurdles

8: Environment = relationship which is passionate & intense emotionally and physically. A strong attraction.

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

(i)  Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen is the conquering of the lower desires represented by Babylon by mans higher spiritual nature symbolised by Jerusalem. Jerusalem has already been explained on this website in an earlier article here. It does not refer to a place in and of itself. It represents the lower nature both within us and society. The Book of Revelation is telling us that if the Babylon internally and externally of us has fallen, in other words if society and we are consumed by lower desires of materialism then they will fall and suffer God’s Wrath  (lack of His Love).

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

Revelation 14: 6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Angel = NOT a winged creature but the spiritual impulse within.

Midst of heaven = right side of the brain, the tabernacle or Holy Place.

Gospel = ancient scriptures warning that there is a problem with mankind’s current relationship with himself and the earth. there is the implication that there needs to be a change that must happen.

14 : 7Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

This is not asking us to live a traditional ‘God Fearing’ life but to look at our life when we have been separated from our spiritual nature

Hour of his judgement has come = this refers to our PERSONAL judgement of the relevance of spirituality to our lives.

Heaven = spiritual realms of Light and Sound inside

Earth = our body

Sea = water of Truth which John baptized or initiated his disciples into

fountains of the waters = the truth that moves through us in our daily lives originating from our initiation into spirit.

This verse is asking if we want to fully engage in a spiritual life and know what the purpose of Life is, where we are going and how wisely we are going to spend our time on earth.

14 : 8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Babylon = a symbol of the lower nature of desire and sensation which holds the soul in captivity (Gaskills Dictionary, p88)

she made all nations drink of the wine… the lower desires of man have trapped him 2000 years ago as they do today. We did not preserve our womb for the bridegroom (Christ) so that we may be born a virgin (without thought in meditation).

Babylon has fallen = no longer spiritualised by the higher centres but indulged in materially. The world is consumerism out of control and society feeds (drinks) on her self indulgence.

However, the lower nature (Babylon) can never destroy the higher (Jerusalem) as illustrated in the verse below :

Ezra 1 : 11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

5 + 4 = 9.

9 = higher consciousness in Numerology.

This verse is saying that despite the trappings of the lower nature (Babylon) , the higher nature of man is always preserved and can be accessed. Our soul is always there to be accessed if we are willing to sacrifice the time and commit to it.

Babylon is therefore not able to destroy the divine aspects represented by Silver and Gold.

Revelation 14 : 9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

worship the beast = lower desires and material world are ‘worshiped’ as people compete in the system. The desire to have more and more.

mark on his forehead or hand= six six six. The third eye is closed to the material world and lower desires which dominate and block out the spiritual light :

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

Our hands are used just to survive in the system or to accumulate material possessions :

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

Revelation 14 : 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

This verse makes reference to those that worship materialism.

Wrath of God = the absence of Gods Love. It is impossible for God to be angry !. When we dwell in the lower desires we do not connect with the purity and joy of God.

wine poured out without mixture = energy of the lower desires has not been mixed and purified by the higher energies of spirit and man just consumes this lower energy.

cup of indignation = indignation means anger, dissatisfaction, unhappiness. Man without a spiritual purpose lives to compete materially but never finds satisfaction and  contentment. Always wants more

John 8 : 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Being led down the path of the lower desires we are led to the Father or God of lies. This refers to the world we live in with constant wars and strife

(ii) Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen In our Internal and External World

We can see that the world has fallen to the lower desires but what if it falls within us. In other words our lower nature is not purified by a spiritual impulse within ? Society (Babylon) has fallen and we can see some of the images below  to show how lost the world is :

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen        Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

Revelation 14 Babylon has Fallen

1st Samuel 18 : 25And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king’s enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

foreskins = lower desires  of man

27Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king’s son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.

slew 200 men and brought their foreskins = David was able to raise the consciousness of 200 men by getting them to raise above their lower nature. The task David undertook was to kill the lower desire aspect out of as many people as possible and allow them to be free from those distractions.

The desire to also be part of the materialistic ‘system’ has to be cut away so we can find the only thing we can truely depend on inside of us.. our spirituality and journey to God. We have a place of stillness and purity inside connected to spirit which we can access through meditation on the Light and Sound  or other means.

Thoth Fortune Tarot Card Tutorial

Thoth Fortune Tarot Card Tutorial

My new YouTube channel is : Thoth Tarot Videos. The major arcana videos are yet to be remade.

thoth fortune tarot card

(ii) Thoth Fortune Tarot Card

The Thoth Fortune tarot card is a glyph for the mechanism of how the Universe works expressed as the 3 alchemical principles spinning on the wheel on life.

The wheel has 10 spokes and spins counter clockwise drawing 10 plumes of energy like a whirlpool.

thoth fortune tarot card

(iii) Rider Waite Wheel of Fortune Tarot Card

This is one of the few cards in the Waite Deck to contain a lot of esoteric symbolism.

thoth fortune tarot card

(iv) Thoth Fortune Tarot Card and The Tree of Life

thoth fortune tarot card

Connects Chesed to Netzach. So we have the connection between the ideas of mercy/benevolence, with the emotions and what makes the individual happy or pleasure.

This card solely exists on the pillar of mercy on the tree of life and opposite is the Hanged Man.

Chesed = 4 = structure, the number of the Tetragrammaton and materialism.

10 spokes of wheel = Malkuth = Physical World/ Manifestation.

(v) Thoth Fortune Tarot Card Hebrew and Astrological Attribution

thoth fortune tarot card

Kaph = palm of the hand = turns wheel and therefore we create our own destiny. The palm of the hand also contains our destiny as told in palmistry and is said to be an imprint of the life path of the Soul :

thoth fortune tarot card

Jupiter = associated with the Thoth Fortune tarot card. Jupiter relates to growth, expansion and good luck. It is known as the ‘Greater Benefic’ in Astrology.

(vi)  Thoth Fortune Tarot Card Alchemy and Symbology

Firmament (expanse)of stars at top = Goddess Nuit. The cosmic clock,

5 pointed stars = pentagram and man. “Every man and woman is a star” was a famous quote from the Book of the Law. The stars are distorted to show our uniqueness. Some stars are dark, others bright representing differing fortunes but there is a balance to them implying a harmony in the universe.

10 pointed star in centre of upper wheel = also reflected in 10 pointed star in lower wheel. “As above, so below”, “Microcosm is a reflection of the macrocosm”

10 = associated with a sense of completion and fulfilment. In the esoteric number system the last number of major importance is the number 10

This sense of completion ties in with the card being seen as the image of the manifested universe in its completion.

3 symbols on wheel = 3 alchemical substances or 3 gunas of Hindu philosophy.

thoth fortune tarot card

Sphinx = at top. Carries a sword which is symbol of the mind and willpower and yet the sphinx represents the power of sulphur not Mercury which is usually associated with the mind. Sulphur is associated with heat and explosiveness as represented by the Emperor

thoth fortune tarot card

Typhon = on right. Associated with SALT, death or stagnation which is also associated with the Empress. The symbol for salt appears on his head behind his eye. He has the Inverted Ankh. The Ankh represents life, motion, the universe and so the fact that it is inverted implies that he contradicts the principle of life, moving forward etc. He is serpentine and so is also associated with hell.

thoth fortune tarot card

Hermanubis = on left and is a variation of the God Anubis. It is a monkey and is meant to be the Greek version of Anubis, a combination of Hermes (Mercury) + Anubis. These 2 Gods are associated with the function of being a psychopump. This is something that acts as a mediator between the living and the dead or as a guide for the souls of the dead through the underworld as we saw in the Thoth Hermit Tarot Card. Associated with Air due to his links with Mercury and the Magus

Anubis = the Egyptian God of mummification & the weighing of the heart ritual in which he is the bridge between man and the gods Osiris and his consort Isis.

In the Book of the Dead, Thoth is present at this scene also.

All of the characters in the card are Greek in origin and so this card is more Greek than Egyptian despite the presence of the Sphinx.

Zeus (Jupiter) is also associated with this card and indeed this card is ruled by Jupiter, furthermore Jupiter rules Chesed

Jupiter (Zeus) is also associated with the Demiurge.

Demiurge = a God of the material universe who believes that he is the highest God of all. He is too self indulgent to realise that he had to be created by something higher than himself (supernal triangle). He is incapable of realising Kether or pure spirit. Chesed is the last sephiroth ascending the tree of life  before the abyss is crossed and supernal triangle are reached and so he does not want to dissolve his identity into the formlessness of these higher sephira, and so holds on to the last vestiges of form or matter.

So Zeus, although known as the father of the Gods is also known as meddling in human affairs, in the same way that the Wheel of Fortune or Karma meddles in the lives of men. Fortune in some ways is blind and the wheel spins and stops in random ways which can mess up our lives.

Lightning Bolts = Jupiter (Zeus) and are striking Typhon

Triangle Within Wheel = represents the 3 gunas on the wheel and the stabilisation of them. Within the centre of the triangle is the Axle of the wheel similar to the masonic symbol below on the back of the dollar bill :

thoth fortune tarot card

This represents the idea of ENLIGHTENMENT understanding, clarity.

Centre of Wheel = Kether, Hadit, the point. The spokes and the 3 gunas are just emanations from this point. In the centre is the symbol of the Sun. I have spoken many times about Christ being the Sun God.  Kether is associated with the Will of God and therefore all other aspects of the card are just extensions of this will. This essentially means that everything that happens to us is Gods Will and cannot be anything other.

Fist at bottom = has 6 rays emanating from it. The letter for fortune is KAPH which means fist or closed hand. Here we have again the idea of the wheel being turned by the hand of God. The 6 rays represent the number of the sun, the Sephiroth Tiphareth and the Christ Consciousness, or single eye :

thoth fortune tarot card

In our daily lives we can say that our actions are constantly turning the Wheel of Fortune and creating karma, good or bad. Some things that happen to us appear obscure and we cannot determine why they may have happened but it may be something that we have set up from many lifetimes ago. Further insight into the soul can be found in an article on the meditation website : The Life of A Soul.

Summary of the Gunas: The Universe seems to be constantly oppressing us and we feel powerless oftentimes (Typhon) and we are therefore goaded into action to change things by the power of will (Hermanubis, Mercury , The Magus) and move to the top of the wheel whereby we take on the Sulphur properties of the Sphinx and resolve to turn the situation into something more harmonious (Adjustment Card) and attain a sense of Victory (Netzach). This whole process on the wheel can represent the cycles of one lifetime or the many and so this happens on a number of different levels at once.

(viii) The Hermit to The Fortune Transition

thoth fortune tarot card

The Hermit relates to being at the centre and strong within ourselves in order to follow our true calling and what is most important to us. This centredness allows us to stay at the centre of the Wheel of Fortune and remain strong within when life going through its endless cycles of change/difficulties and distractions. Both cards are closely related and my mastering the Hermit within we are better able to survive the Karmic Wheel of Life.

(ix) Thoth Fortune Tarot Card Divinatory Meanings

In Crowley’s deck he means Fortune to represent ‘Good Fortune’. The Fortune card shares the Fools spontaneity and randomness as the wheel spins, but it has a little more organisation to it than the Fool. Crowley tells us that this card represents the unpredictable in life quite like the wild cards as described in my article on The Life of a Soul.

Represents an unexpected change in one’s life which will be favourable but may not necessarily seem that way at first. Perhaps we can draw another card to see what the unexpected change is going to entail.

Thoth Fortune Upright

thoth fortune tarot card

Be ready to act on any unexpected opportunities at the moment.

Reminds you to go with the flow of life and let good fortune come your way. Dont try to hang on to the status quo but let change bring about new things.

When times are good, enjoy them but do not become complacent because things can change. When times are challenging, do not be discouraged because even when things seem their worst it simply suggests that things can only get better!

Keep optimistic and have faith in the Universe that it will take care of the situation in the best way possible.

Change is about to happen and soon. You may also need to alter your present course, move things in a different direction or turn things around to ensure that you are creating the right outcomes in your life.

If we struggle against the flow of life, we become those struggling to ascend the Wheel, or even one of those crushed beneath it. Despite the ebb and flow of the wheel, the centre is never going to move or be shaken and so despite what difficulties are around us, if we can stay centred to our truth then we will get through any hardships.

Thoth Fortune Reversed

thoth fortune tarot cardNot going with the flow of life or events.

Luck is not on your side at the moment. There has been a turn of events that are not in your favour sending you into a tail spin and changing your world significantly, seemingly for the worst.

Circumstances arising that are outside of your control, leaving you feeling helpless and powerless.

The run of difficult circumstances that you are experiencing may also be as a result of poor decisions you have made in the past. Think about what actions you have taken recently and whether these may have contributed to your present circumstances.

The appearance of this card reversed may indicate that change has become a source of significant stress for you and you may be trying to consciously or subconsciously stop events from running their course.

This is also not a time to be taking risks but for being cautious.

(x) Thoth Fortune Tarot Card in the Celtic Cross Spread

princess of disks

1: Heart of the Situation = life is changing and we must be ready to act on any favourable opportunities

2: Possible obstacle = taking too many risks, a time to be cautious about making decisions.

3: Unconscious Influences = scared of change, going with the flow.

4: Recent Past = recent change of fortune which has brought about new opportunities for you. Have you made the most of them ?

5: Hopes and goals = not getting caught up with the trials of life, going with the flow. Freedom.

6: Short Term Future = change and some good luck coming your way and an opportunity for growth.

7: Our Self Image in this situation = being centered even though life is throwing up lots of change.

8: Environment = one of change and opportunities we must grasp with both hands

9: Guidance & Warning = don’t get caught up in the wheel of life too often. To master this card we need to remain at the centre of the wheel when life throws up its challenges

10: Overall Outcome = there will be an excellent opportunity to change your life for the better. Jupiter bestows good fortune with an opportunity for growth. We will then need to go with the flow whilst remaining centred and focussed on what is most important to us.

Meditation on Colours and Shapes

(i) Meditation on Colours and Shapes Introduction

This is a powerful visualisation involving meditation on colours and shapes designed to improve your concentration and the quality of your meditation practice.

Visualisation may be defined as forming a mental image that is similar to a visual image.

Potential Benefits from Visualisation can include:

  • Improving our concentration during meditation
  • Discovering positive benefits from meditating on different colours and colour combinations
  • Discovering positive benefits from meditating on different shapes and colours within shapes.

Visualisation is also said to be valuable to our meditation in more subtle ways:

  • It is effective in helping us transcend the physical, emotional & mental bodies as it uses the higher mental aspect of us.
  • Being able to visualize states of consciousness that we have attained in meditation also is said to create a link with that state and this in turn creates a ‘thread’ making it easier to return to higher states.

We are now going to look more closely at colours and shapes with respect to visualisation.

  1. Colours

The language of colour has entered our vocabulary to help us describe our emotions. You can be ‘red’ with rage or ‘green’ with envy. We often speak of bright cheerful colours as well as sad or dull ones. A ‘grey’ day may be depressing and result in a feeling of the ‘blues’. Artists also use combination of colours to represent moods in their paintings.

For more esoteric aspects of colour we can use two examples:

(a)  Alice Bailey & the Treatise on the Seven Rays

Meditation on Colours and ShapesAlice Bailey (June 16, 1880 – December 15, 1949) identified 7 Spiritual Light Rays each carrying a specific ‘quality’ of energy emanating from our spiritual source, and these were classified in terms of their colour as given below:

1st Ray –  Red

2nd Ray – Blue

3rd Ray – Yellow

4th Ray – Green

5th Ray – Orange

6th Ray – Violet

7th Ray – Indigo

(b)  The Colours of the Seven Chakras

Meditation on Colours and Shapes

Now we will consider shapes to contain the colours in the above examples.

  1. Shapes

We will consider three basic shapes:

Triangle = 3 (movement, change).

Square = 4 (stability/rest).

Circle = 0 (being in the moment).

Meditation Exercise

Choose from one of the colour sequences above, either the order of the Rays or the colours of the chakras. Once you have chosen follow the sequence with each colour in turn and in both cases start from the colour RED.

The order of the shapes should be Triangle, Square & finally the Circle.

So for instance, if we choose to work with the chakra colour sequence our visualisation order would be:

Red Triangle – Red Square – Red Circle – Orange Triangle – Orange Square – orange Circle – etc. Try to hold each image for about 5 seconds :

Meditation_visualisation_red_circle-256        Meditation_visualisation_red_square-256            Meditation_visualisation_red_triangle-256          Meditation_visualisation_orange_circle-256          Meditation_visualisation_orange_square-256           Meditation_visualisation_orange_triangle-256

Once we have finished our final shape which would be Violet Circle we start the cycle again.

I have repeated this process for 15 minutes prior to meditation on the Light and Sound Energies.

We might find that some shapes and colours are harder to visualise than others and so we have included images for you of each of the 21 combinations. If you are not used to visualising or find it difficult just start by looking at coloured shapes in sequence directly from the images. In time you will be able to visualise better and may be able to dispense with some or all of the images.

Also begin with just start with a time that is comfortable for you, 5 or 10 minutes for example.

(ii) Colour and Shape Combinations

This section has been added which gives you all the colour and shape combinations that I use for meditation and visualisation. These can be copied and pasted for your personal use or just used directly from this article.

(iii) Meditation on Colours and Shapes & the Nature of Perception

Summary of the Above Exercise

(a) Looking directly at a colour/shape = Shape is Yang (strong, well defined) which evokes a feeling of Yin within the perceiver.

(b) Visualising a coloured shape = shape is Yin (more subtle than the object itself) and the process of perceiving is Yang (we put in a lot of effort to form the mental image).

From the above perhaps meditation on the inner light is essentially a yin process, which would explain why when one ‘tries’ to see the light in a yang fashion, similar to the outward perception of shape and colour, the process seems ineffective – perhaps a softer, gentler process of perception is needed to develop a good technique for seeing the light inside. So if our perception is soft (Yin) the Light will be strong (Yang).

So Perception has two interdependent forces, a Yin and a Yang quality like the Taijitu symbol below:

B.O.T.A. Tarot Deck

(i) Introduction to the B.O.T.A. Tarot Deck

B.O.T.A. (from which the  The B.O.T.A. Tarot Deck derives its name) stands for Builders of the Adytum and is a religious organization created by Paul Foster Case (October 3, 1884 – March 2, 1954)  dedicated to spiritual attunement through study, practice and meditation in the Tradition of the Western Mysteries. Adytum is the Greek word for Inner Shrine or Holy of Holies.

The B.O.T.A. Tarot Deck was created by Paul Foster Case using the artist  Jessie Burns Parke. It closely follows the Rider Waite Deck but Case felt it necessary to create his own deck due to reasons he states below in his Book ‘Tarot : A Key to the Wisdom of the Ages’ :

  1. Waite deliberately OBSCURES or OMITS detailed symbols in his deck which limit the true depth of meaning of each card.
  2. Some cards are changed to include Waites personal preferences and deviate too far from their original  meaning.  (p.20)

B.O.T.A. Tarot DeckCase even points out that his own artist Miss Parke copies too closely the style of the Waite deck drawn by Pamela Coleman-Smith but indicates that he is happy with the finished product with :

“No ‘blinds’ in this version, and every symbol is intended to mean just what it is said to signify in the explanations” (given) (pp.20 -21)

He adamantly believed that each student needed to color his or her own Tarot deck and refused to issue a colored deck; finally his students, long after his death, issued his Tarot book with colored trumps. These coloured trumps can be seen below and in my YouTube presentation.
