Philosophical Questions by John Yarr

This is an extensive list of philosophical questions by John Yarr as part of the late 90s and early-mid 2000 Path Teachings. The questions should not just be looked upon as points for philosophical debate, but also a tool for integrating realisations with the Light and Sound Meditation, and subsequent development of Higher Mind as a conduit for teaching others. 

      1. What is concentration?

      2. Would an absolute state have a centre?

      3. Perceiving, perceiver and perceived are all parts of what state?

      4. Why does an absolute state not have any environments in it?

      5. How does intuition differ from thought in its state of knowledge?

      6. Is it possible to be without desire of any kind whilst having an experience?

      7. When Lao Tzu says ” When we acheive something we lose it”, what does he mean?

      8. Are levels of consciousness layered on top of each other or are they interpenetrating?

      9. Why would space always be on the outside of creation and never inside or trapped?

    10. When we attain Enlightenment we find an absolute state completely unhindered, where then are the individual souls?

    11. Without an individual soul what purpose would religion have?

   12. Can we take anything into higher levels or can we merely witness them?

   13. Why is it necessary to have a human body to attain Enlightenment?

   14. Is there a desire driving us to attain Enlightenment or is there something else?

   15. Since there can be no two things exactly the same in creation, is there anything we can ever do the same again?

   16. With nothing added and nothing subtracted, is creation and knowledge essentially fatalistic?

   17. What does Emptyness mean in a zen way?

   18. Why does Intuition not use colour?

   19. Can intuition ever be a memory?

   20. What is the difference between a revelation and information?

21. Can there be a part of the absolute trapped in anything since it has no surfaces?

22. Explain what devoton is and the difference between devotion and dedication.

23. Does the future into which the individual must go already exist or does the individual have to create this future?

24. How does love differ from desire and is there any Will in love or is it diminished?

25. Is there any such thing as seeing or are there only the laws of attraction operating to allow things to become aware of each other?

26. Does trauma only occur in a negative situation if trauma means to be consumed by the circumstance rather than being the consumer?

27. What is the difference between a trauma and a samadhi?

28. Can thought ever be aware of the individual or is thought always a reactive process merely being witnessed by the individual?

29. Can thought be controlled or is it always something that happens and then we are aware of it afterwards?

30. Can the buddhic principle ever be a part of memory or is Buddhi always independent of the thought process and therefore never part of memory?

   31. Ultimately since nothing can be added to the universe and nothing subtracted can there be any learning within the creation and what does learning mean ? Does it mean becoming aware within the confines of limits to the extent that there is some form of self-actualisation or does it mean that the Buddhic principle within creation and the greatest point of cooperation within limits used for mentation come to be part of the individuals awareness?

   32. Why when the ultimate state does not have any edges or surfaces does it not invade the individual and create Enlightenment?

   33. In what way does meditation differ from concentration, paying attention, being aware, recognition etc or are all these activities similar in that they use directional concentration or do the environments that comprise concentration determine the outcome of the event?

   34. Explain why creation is neither inside or outside the absolute state?

   35.  Why can creation have a mass but no location in the absolute state?

   36. Do psychological problems occur only in the coloured universe or do they include levels beyond buddhi?

   37. Why does Buddhi not include colour?

   38. Would there be any need for memory if only spiritual light existed?

   39. Since comparison is abscent in Buddhi could we live in a world using only Buddhi?

   40. Can we forget a buddhic experience?

   41. Why is Enlightenment not an experience?

   42. Is there desire within the Buddhic experience?

   43. Is the concept of an inside and an outside an illusion caused by the fact that you cannot eliminate memory from concentration?

   44. Is the third dimension the memory of the fourth dimension utilised in the nature of perception?

   45. Is being a state of self-preception incapable of being aware or is beingness the original state of perception?

   46. Is now a form or a space?

   47. Since to be here now is to imply an awareness of only being, how can peope claim to be here now without this state being there?

   48. What is happiness?

   49. Since there are no two things exactly the same therefore denying any such thing as learning, would perception within creation have any purpose within it or is the reactive behaviour of creation a simple means of unconsciousness which offers purpose because there is no ability to actually see at all ?

   50. Is ‘seeing’ a state that can determine an inside and an outside, or is seeing incapable of deriving any awareness of these two positions ?
