Designing A Spleen Mandala for Meditation

(i) Designing A Spleen Mandala for Meditation Introduction

Mandala = The word Mandala (pronunciation mon- dah- lah) means “circle”.  Mandalas are used for meditation purposes allowing the individual meditating to become one with the mandala or benefit from the energy that is contained within it. They can be religious or have a specific purpose or meaning to the individual. This article will concentrate on designing A spleen mandala for meditation from first principles, illustrating each stage and the reasons behind the specific shape and colours.

(ii) The Spleen Chakra

The idea of the spleen chakra was taken up by Alice Bailey (or her source, “the Tibetan”), and through both her and Mahatma C.W. Leadbeater became established  within the general theosophical occult-esoteric world-view. The location of the spleen chakra(number 2) in relation to man can be seen in the diagram below :

spleen_chakra_man_Mahatma C.W. Leadbeater

The second centre, the splenic (Plate II), at the spleen, is devoted to the distribution of the vitality which comes to us from the sun. That vitality is poured out again from it in six horizontal streams, the seventh variety being drawn into the hub of the wheel. This centre therefore has six petals or undulations, all of different colours, and is specially radiant, glowing and sunlike. Each of the six divisions of the wheel shows predominantly the colour of one of the forms of the vital force and so the dominant colours of the spleen chakra petals are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. These colours will be used in the construction of the spleen mandala below. Further information on this chakra is given in the following tables.

(iii) Meditating with the Spleen Mandala

The design of the mandala is supposed to be visually appealing and technically correct so as to absorb the mind in such a way that which  allows the individual a higher consciousness or awareness or the required effect of the geometrical pattern can be felt. Using the final image below (which can be saved to your desktop) spend 10 to 15 minutes focussing your awareness on the mandala. When your mind wanders just bring it gently back to the mandala, trying to absorb its energy radiating from the colours and pattern.

(iv) Possible Benefits Using the Spleen Mandala

Given the properties of the spleen chakra expected benefits of meditatiing on this spleen mandala may include:

INCREASED VITALITY AND HEALTH

(v) Four Levels of  Constructing A Spleen Mandala

Level 1

This is a representation of the spleen chakra and the 6 petals have been represented by triangles rather than ‘segments’. Each triangle is one of the 6 colours of the petals. A triangle is used rather than a segment because it is the basic shape of movement.

Level 2

Since the function of the spleen is to distribute energy out into the etheric body, the horizontal axis are continued by alternating between a triangle of the colour of the segment and its complimentary colouri.e the purple triangle and the red triangle.

Level 5 : The Completed Mandala

This is the final mandala which is used for meditation. It is not a circle but is still a coloured geometrical pattern which is used to concentrate on. This image can be saved to your desktop.

Krishnas Divine Form to Arjuna The Spiritual Seeker

The most ancient of things is the thing that is there first before all else, i.e God.  God is self-created and therefore does not have a cause.

The Light and Sound energies are the first manifestation of form and experience from God.

God being absolute has no edges and not being differentiated into parts cannot be experienced, we can only BE God, we can never know God and cannot ever talk to God. God cannot want or need anything.

Creation is an effect of God and so cannot give God anything. This means that God cannot talk to any religious person and any action of man supposedly acting under the direction of God is false.

krishna divine form

In the Bhagavad Gita Krishna has a divine form which is Light, whereas Krishnas absolute nature is formless which overwhelms Arjuna (the spiritual seeker in us all). When Arjuna sees the true formless nature of Krishna he is shocked and overwhelmed as his predictable way of knowing and dealing with creation has changed forever.

Arjuna sees the universe as a gigantic mouth, where everything is being consumed, a day is consumed by a week, a week by a month, a month by a year, a year by a century and so all manifestation is INSIDE something and is essentially being consumed by it.

So we must bet beyond all manifestation (the creation, form, limits, ignorance) and attain Enlightenment (what Krishna wants for Arjuna)

What is the difference between an Experience and a Realisation ?

An experience may be conscious or unconscious i.e. reactive behaviour where as a realisation allows knowledge or insight into how consciousness works for all humanity generally and cannot be contradicted by time and circumstance. Two examples of a realisation are

 (i) change is changeless

(ii) movement is proof of limits

and whilst an individual may include this awareness in their life they will not have any ability to alter that awareness as it is common to all humanity.

A personal experience such as that which comes in meditation or in our day-to-day living may have a personal interpretation placed upon it and we then form our own personal bias to suit our own agenda.

In summary, a realisation is something which is universal to all humanity and an experience is personal.

Is the concept of an inside and an outside an illusion caused by the fact that one cannot eliminate memory from concentration?

Defining terms :

 Concentration= focussed awareness.

Memories = changes in perception. Occur over and are influenced by time, the fourth dimension.

The arrow in the diagram below shows increasing speed of concentration

spiritual philosophy

no concentration                            increasing speed of perception

However , although concentration increases it is never as fast as ‘being there (Enlightenment)’

Perception will always be happening as concentration increases and awareness changes. As time (and so memory) is involved, awareness always results in an inside and outside as the yin and yang halves of the process occur between the object of concentration and the subject i.e. we always have a sense of movement and change in awareness/identity through using concentration.

So concentration & memory (time) stops us from simply ‘being’ where an inside and outside would not exist, environments would not be created (through the process of perception) and there would be simply NOW.

Perhaps Buddhi, which does not have memory, is free from environments, awareness and perception. Here there is also no ‘inside and outside’.

Is Love within creation a Colour process or a Light process ?

Is love within creation a colour process or a light process ?

We tend to think of love as one of the finest aspects of creation, so it would be easy to associate “Love” with “Light” if that Light is the Light of God.

spiritual universal love

Love within creation is always conditional, simply because the nature of creation relies on conditions and environments. These conditions we can simplify as limits, separation and comparison. The 6 lesser keys to understanding the creation and its limits are :

  1. Colour

      2. Metaphysics

      3. Analogy

      4. Geometry

      5. Numerology

      6. Astrology

The seventh or GREATER KEY = The Spiritual Light and Sound or LIGHTWAVE.

So the Light and Sound  gives rise to the other six by further separation and segmentation.

Going back to the original question we can now see that Love within creation is most definitely a colour process, as love within creation relies on separation and comparison. Love in its truest sense is greater even than the Light of God, as it is without limits or separation and so without comparison. True love isn’t a light process or colour process ‑as both Light and colour rely on separation to one degree or another. Fortunately for us, the more we bathe in the Light of God, and reverberate with its counterpart, the Word of God, the greater our awareness of our own blissful nature as we catch a glimpse of the Love that supports all that we know.

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism and Traditional Colour Theory

(i) Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism and Traditional Colour Theory

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism and Traditional Colour Theory : Colour makes up for a large part of the overall energy and feel of a Tarot Card and so this section of work looks at the symbology of colour in Tarot and how this relates to a cards overall meaning. We have started with the primary colours Red, Blue and Yellow as all other colours are derived from them as can be shown in the images below.

(a) Primary Colours

A primary colour is one of the three colours, red, yellow or blue, that can be mixed together in different ways to make any other colour. Primary colours are CANNOT be made by mixing other colours.

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

(b) Secondary Colours

A colour resulting from the mixing of two primary colours for example :

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

(c) Tertiary Colours

  1. A colour produced by mixing two secondary colours

      2. A colour produced by an equal mixture of a primary color with a secondary color adjacent to it on the color wheel. So in the example below Red (Primary) + Orange (Secondary) = Red-Orange (Tertiary);  Blue (Primary) + Violet (Secondary) = Blue-Violet (Tertiary) and so on.

(ii) Colours, The Tree of Life and The Tetragrammaton

(iii) Ten Colours in the Thoth Tarot

For the 4 colours associated with the elements, we should see more of the colour in the lower value cards of the suit where the energy is purest, and then this colour becomes less predominant as the energies become mixed as we progress down the Tree of Life. So does this bear out with the 4 suits of the Thoth Tarot ?

  1. Red

Health, Strength, Physical Energy, Courage, Intense Emotions, Sexuality, Aggression. Temper, Leadership,Passion for Life

Thoth Tarot Minor Arcana Suit of Wands

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

Other Thoth Tarot Examples :

10 of Cups (Satiety)

2 of Wands (Dominion) = directed force or will.

10 of Swords (Ruin) = energy applied in a destructive manner

2. Blue

A Balanced Spiritual Understanding, Healing, Peace, Psychic, Philosophy,  Spirituality, Subconscious, Communication, Tranquility, thoughtfulness, calmness, deep as the ocean, high as the sky.

Thoth Tarot Minor Arcana Suit of Cups

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

Other Thoth Tarot Examples

2 of cups (Love)  = sensitivity, calmness

4 of swords (Truce) = blue background, little association here.

High Priestess =  intuition, spirituality

Adjustment = no obvious association

Star = sensitivity, spirituality

Hanged Man = no obvious link

3. Yellow

An intellectual approach or intellectual balance, Confidence, Self-Esteem, Mental. Sun, masculine, of the mind. (feminine moon).

Its association with intellect is to do with the Sun being thought of as masculine and this is represented by figures such as the Egyptian Sun God Amen Ra (seen below) where as Goddesses were associated with the Moon and femininity.

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

Thoth Tarot Minor Arcana Suit of Swords

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

Other Thoth Tarot Examples:

5 of Wands (Strife)

4. Brown

Animals, Earth,  Stability, Stagnation, Material World, Groundedness.

Brown is a tertiary colour which is made from is made from mixing yellow and red then adding a little blue . You can also make brown from green a secondary colour which is made from mixing blue and yellow and then red a primary colour which also makes it a tertiary colour.

Thoth Tarot Minor Arcana Suit of Disks

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

Going back to the Tetragrammaton :

Yod = Red , He = Blue , Vav = Yellow  = The 3 primary colours

He Final = Brown = a tertiary colour.

Looking at the Tree of Life below, Brown = Earth or Malkuth is the pendulum on the Tree and quite far removed from the rest. Vau is both the brother and the consort to the He Final and so its an ambiguous relationship. The fact that brown is a tertiary colour and far removed from the primary colour ties in with this distant relationship between Malkuth and the rest of the sephira of the Tree of Life

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

There is almost a complete absence of brown in the rest of the Thoth Deck apart from the Court Disks & possibly the 8 of Disks.

We will now include the Thoth Major Arcana in our study:

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism

5. Orange

A passionate approach, Drive, Activity, Ambition, Enthusiasm, Warmth, Sociable.

Thoth Tarot Examples:

3 of Wands (virtue) = doing things for our highest good

4 of Disks (Power) = desert in background

5 of Cups (Disappointment)

10 of Cups (Satiety)

6. Green

Harmony, Balance, Money, Prosperity, Fertility, Healing, Growth, Peace.

Thoth Tarot Examples:

9 of Disks (Gain) = prosperity, growth

Ace of Disks = Potential Growth of Tangible or practical projects.

2 of swords (Peace)

4 of Swords (Truce)

7. Purple

Compassion, Power, Spirituality, Spiritual Leadership/Teacher, Psychic, Nobility

Thoth Tarot Examples:

7 of wands (Valour)

2 of Disks (Change)

8 of swords (Interference)

8. Grey

Uniformity, depression, dullness, Unsettling, Stressful

Thoth Tarot Examples:

5 of Disks(Worry)

7 of Disks (Failure)

9. White

Purity of motive, Innocence, Protection, Purification, Hope, Clarity, The soul (white light), innocence.

Thoth Tarot Examples:

Ace of Cups

Magus

Hierophant

Lovers

10. Black

Negativity, Sadness, Mourning, Loss, Guilt, Depression, Emptiness, Darkness, Mystery, The beginning and the end, the abyss, the culmination of things, the completion of a cycle, the void.

Thoth Tarot Examples:

2 of disks (Change) = beginnings and endings

3 of Swords (Sorrow)

8 of Cups (Indolence)

Death

The Tower

The Magus

Conclusion

Thoth Tarot Colour Symbolism : The general feel of the card could be determined by overall colour in some cases such as the 7 and 8 of Cups, 3 of swords and 7 of disks all being dark cards and with difficult energies.

However Simple Theory of Colour attributes when applied to Thoth Tarot does not always give an accurate account of the energy and meaning of the card  so we must look at other factors when considering the colours chosen and what they represent.

Next we will look at the relationship of colour to the cards astrological attributes.

The Life of A Soul

The Life of A Soul

This article is taken from our main meditation website and consists of information on the The Life of A Soul. The following  is a simplification of teachings we have received recently from the Spiritual Hierarchy.

Firstly we need to define some terminology:
Essence = the true Self which remains always in the Spiritual Realms.

The Life of A Soul

Soul = a part of the Essence which incarnates.

The Life of A Soul

When a physical incarnation is about to take place the Essence or true Self plans that particular life, with a number of Spiritual Beings who act as advisors. The purpose of the lifetime is established and the environment of birth carefully chosen. This would take into account not only planetary location but family members, friends and people who would be influential in that life. Bodies (physical, emotional and mental) would also be chosen as appropriate to that incarnation. So you are “the Hand that occupies the glove” and it is this “hand” that you receive Knowledge of when you are Initiated into the Light and Sound.

Additional to a life plan each person is “dealt” a number of “wildcards” which are responsible for what we refer to as free will. These will cause us to veer off course and may result in a good or bad outcome.

The Life of A Soul

This is where Karma comes into the equation and it all gets extremely complicated. We are told that you can only incur Karma when you play the “wildcards”. Sticking to the plan cannot, as you are only acting out the script you have been given.

The Life of A Soul

During a lifetime a person will be attempting to learn a set of lessons; these can be both academic and of course life based. We never stop having learning opportunities. If a particular problem keeps resurfacing, then it is a clear indication that we are not facing up to the situation properly and just “burying” it. If the lesson is there, then we should rise to the challenge, after all we contrived it in the first place!

When we die, hopefully we will have learnt most of our lessons, otherwise we will need to incorporate them in future incarnations. On physical death we ascend to the Spiritual Planes but still retain our emotional and mental bodies. In these Realms we create our own “Heaven” experiences but eventually there comes a time when these bodies must also be shrugged off.

We then enter a period of rest and reflection before rejoining with our Essence which Itself continues to learn.

As stated above this is only a rough model, but it will give you some idea of the complex mechanisms involved when a human incarnation takes place.

If you have any questions do feel free to ask them by using the contact page. Try to make them general rather than specific to yourself, so that we can post the answer(s) on the website.

Gods Saviours and the Spiritual Hierarchy

Gods Saviours and the Spiritual Hierarchy

This article is written as an attempt to present the reader with a rough framework on which to hang the various histories of Spirituality and explain their origins.

Nearly all the ancient religions were polytheistic and celebrated the existence of a multitude of Gods. Supporting evidence can be found dating way back to the Bronze and Iron ages. More recently, spread across the globe, the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Hindus, Buddhists, Shintoists and Pagans all celebrated vast numbers of Deities and Spiritual Beings. Many continue to do so to this day.

Monotheism was to emerge also and proclaimed a single Deity often as a result of a superior God who ruled over a group of lesser Spiritual Beings. An example of this can be found in Christianity where God is usually depicted in the Heavenly Realms surrounded by a host of Angels.

Saviours, Prophets and Teachers such as Jesus, Mohammed, The Buddha, Lao Tzu and Lord Krishna have played their part by providing moral codes and Spiritual insights.

Jesus_Krishna_Buddha

In the last few centuries Science has presented an empirical alternative. This requires no belief and no faith. It relies simply on theory, repeatable experiments and predictions which, if proved correct, serve to uphold the original premise. It should be noted that up till now (2015) all such experiments have been conducted within the confines of the Physical Universe! A reference can be found by clicking on the image below

cern_science_god

As a consequence of the above we are left today with an enormous theological puzzle. What do we accept, what do we reject, what should we believe, what should we disbelieve?

The answer in essence is simple: embrace all the religions and philosophies as there is Truth in each of them. What is then required is to seek commonality and the underlying cause that explains the entire mystery.

From the Spiritual Hierarchy:

When Man first became aware of himself in a more conscious way he automatically looked for his “Maker” and the reasons behind his existence. We were ready at that point to give him the answers he needed.

As you are aware, religions sprung from these “messages on high”, which came and went with time over the centuries. That is why there is such similarity between the faiths and religions, because at Source the same messages were sent out to willing “listeners”. How could it be any other way, there is only one Truth.

Writing this will help people to get some understanding of Spirit and how it works. It will give people a clearer way to find their “purpose”, which is missing in the World at this time.
