Planetary Conjunctions in Astrology

The Conjunction is more or less expansive, completing and unifying. In some cases it tends to neutralise the effects of the planets that form the conjunction, and it often produces an attitude of indifference or suspense. The conjunction of Jupiter with any planet never fails to expand its influence and to bring to completion that which it denotes in the nativity. The conjunction of Saturn, on the other hand, rarely fails to contract and limit the influence of the other planet. Mars disturbs the influence of the planet it conjoins, and Uranus makes it either definitely opposing, or complementary; Mercury humanises, and Venus harmonises.

In effect, conjunctions can be a blind spot. When the Sun is in close conjunction to Neptune, for example, others may note the distinction, but it can be hard for the native to distinguish between their sense of individuality and their spiritual, evasive, or roundabout nature. The native may just assume, naturally, that others are much the same way.
