Karma Yoga in The Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita and Karma Yoga is described in Chapter 3 (v15 – v20) in particular and in this article we will include excerpts from the Bible to illustrate the common purpose behind the teachings of Christ and Krishna.

Karma Yoga in The Bhagavad Gita Scripture

We will now look at how Karma Yoga is represented in the Bhagavad Gita & The Bible.

Arjuna:

Gita 3 :1 Since you teach that the path of wisdom is better than the path of action, Krishna, which are you encouraging me to do this terrible act (of war)?

The war is not an EXTERNAL war & this also follows for the scripture of The Bible and The Koran. All of these texts are ALLEGORICAL for mans battle with himself

war = war between our lower & higher self (left & right sides)

 Krishna:

Gita 3:15  Know that action (karma) comes from the creative intelligence (Brahma) which is of the imperishable, the eternal

Everything comes from the source of creation. All comes out of him and all will return to him.

Luke 17: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

supreme spirit (Gita) & the Kingdom of God (Bible) = one and the same thing.

Gita 3.15 (continued) …The all pervading Brahma thus is forever centred in self sacrifice

meditation is a form of self sacrifice as we are sacrificing our lower self and the senses for the higher universal energy

Here we will introduce the serpent which coils 3 1/2 times or Kundalini

The Bhagavad Gita and Karma Yoga

3x 360 (the zodiacal circle) = 1080

1/2 x 360 = 180.

180 + 1080 = 1260 = (1+2+6+0=9)

9= enlightenment/ divine consciousness

This is expressed in the Bible many times for example:

Revelation 7 : 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Also THE CIRCLE represents the universal cosmos containing everything. Everything in the universe is cyclical .

This universal consciousness is represented by the whirling dervishes of the SUFI Muslims:

The Bhagavad Gita and Karma Yoga

Children often do this action perhaps because they have recently come from the place of the circle ( the infinite prior to incarnation).

The zodiac itself is circular:

The Bhagavad Gita and Karma Yoga

Gita 3 : 16 Anyone here on earth, Arjuna who does not align himself with the revolving wheel (sacrifice – action – God – sacrifice), but instead chooses to waste his life delighting only in the senses, breathes in vain.

By doing this we are becoming one with the great universe. This is not found by reading books or singing hymns but by action to align ourselves with the natural flow of the universe by sacrificing our lower nature in meditation.

breathes in vain = unless you submit to God in this way your life has been a complete waste of time !

This concept of the circle was demonstrated in one of the Lost Gospels THE ACTS OF JOHN where Christ was in the centre with his disciples making a circle around him :

The Bhagavad Gita and Karma Yoga

Comparing this with the picture of the zodiac above, one can see this similarities.

” Now before he was taken by the lawless Jews, who had their law from the lawless serpent, he gathered all of us together and said: “Before I give myself up to them, let us praise the Father in a hymn of praise, and so go forth to meet what is to come.” Then he bade us make a circle Holding each other’s hands, and he was in the middle. And he said: “Answer me with Amen.” After which he began to sing a hymn of praise: “Glory be to thee, Father!” And we all, going around in a ring, answered, “Amen.”

Amen = Christ calls himself ‘The Amen’ in the book of Revelations

lawless serpent = kundalini energy not directed upwards for highest good but outwards into the lawless world

12 disciples = 12 signs of the zodiac rotating around the Christ (Sun).

Gita 3.17 On the other hand the soul who meditates on the Self is content to serve the Self and rests satisfied within the Self; there remains nothing more for him to accomplish.

the Self = me = I AM = God that dwells within us

So those that meditate deeply are content to serve their higher Self only and such a life is one of satisfaction when one resides within the stillness of meditation. When this happens there is nothing more for a person to do, as his life is accomplished.

Unless we are SILL INSIDE God cannot do anything for us. We have to allow this process to unfold within ourselves.

This is represented in the Bible:

Revelation 7 : 12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out:

no more go out = no need to be reborn again. We are now a pillar in the temple of God and we dont need to go out and learn lessons in the world anymore.

We can look at the next verses of the Gita if we want to know why there is nothing more to be accomplished:

Gita 3.18 He has nothing to gain by the performance or non performance of action. His welfare depends not upon any contribution that an earthly creature can make.

We are focussed on spirit and not the mind. Our welfare does not depend on anything that anyone can do for us as we have everything in God realisation or Enlightenment.

According to Krishna our welfare comes from the holy place or Temple in our head = third eye:

Gita 3 : 20 King Janaka and others attained perfection through action alone. Even for the sake of Enlightening the world, it is thy duty to act

How can this be given the previous verses ? How can someone attain perfection by action alone ?

So King Janaka attained perfection by action

King Janaka = Atma  Buddhi

Atma = Pineal Gland, Kings Chamber of Pyramid , Ra of Israel

Buddhi = Pituitary Gland, Queens Chamber of Pyramid, Isis of Israel

He represents the divine consciousness, that HOLY place within us that is untouched by anything.

King Janaka and others = others who have reached enlightenment and know their divinity within.

it is thy duty to act = once we become enlightened although there is nothing else to achieve, it is still our duty to the world to teach and be an example to others. If we don’t demonstrate this outwardly in the world, then our enlightenment becomes just a personal attainment. We must walk this path and have these realisations before teaching others in turn. So in Tarot , the 10 of Disks indicates lots of wealth but we have not shared it or done anything with it. Although it talks about material things, the principal is the same :

Matthew 5 : 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

The father attained perfection through action alone because the father is CREATION. In divine consciousness there in no thought and perfection in action.

Action is also the seasons of the year, the trees sacrificing their leaves and returning to the earth, the new flowers blooming in spring. It is the all perfection and another circle or cycle which defines life.

Hebrews 6 : 1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

faith towards God = we should have FAITH – we should know directly the presence of God within. Faith = being not sure.

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

we should not practice baptisms, laying on of hands

resurrection of  the dead = you will rise from the grave inside you where those have killed your spirit, and then you will rise up into the divine consciousness through the third eye. Resurrection of the dead has NOTHING to do with dead bodies rising from graves.

eternal judgement = there is NONE, there is no judgement from God who is one with us.

Sin is not knowing our oneness with him.
