(i) Spiritual Meaning of Christmas 2 Introduction
Spiritual Meaning of Christmas Part 2 concludes this short series on the cosmic context of Christmas by looking at how the movement of the sun around the zodiac circle is related to passages in the Bible & the awakening of the Christ Consciousness within us.
The date of Dec 25th is a universal birthday that is often ignored. The events of the birth of Jesus were copied from various mythological Gods predating Jesus by many hundreds or thousands of years: e.g. Adonis, Osiris, Krishna. Mithra.
Jesus = a Greek name and yet he was Jewish
Dec 25th is the birthday of the sun in the sky as we shall see below. All the Gods of mythology are representing the sun.
Jesus himself refers to himself as the AMEN which is the Egyptian Sun God:
Revelations 3: 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
An understanding of ourselves spiritually allows us to understand the universe. What is within (microcosm) is without (macrocosm).
Below we see the Cosmic Clock with the sun moving through the 12 signs of the zodiac:
1. Virgo
The start of the path of the sun is outlined in the verse below:
Isaiah 7: 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name IImmanuel
Shall give you a sign = clarified in the following verse:
Genesis 1:14. And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven(ie stars) to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
the virgin can conceive = we must look at the sky for signs
In September the sun is born out into the sign Virgo so the Journey begins here.
2. Libra
Sun enters Libra between October and November prior to its crucifixion in December.
Libra is balancing and represents the taking up of the cross between the spiritual and the physical so both need to be in balance in our lives.
Matthew 10: 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.-
We must give equal consideration to both the physical and spiritual but one must take up the cross (challenge of moving to higher consciousness) to be worthy of him and his teachings.
3. Scorpio
De Vinci painted the last supper (he was an astrologer).
Judas = pictured 8th from the right & represents 8th sign Scorpio and he was the Betrayer:
Jesus crucified between 2 thieves. 2 months where there is no harvest. Between Scorpio and Sagittarius (Oct 23rd and Dec 21st) there is No harvest anywhere in the world between these dates, so Scorpio and Sagittarius are viewed as the heavenly thieves.
Dec 21st – sun enters constellation crux (cross) constellation. The shortest day of the year. Gods sun is dead metaphorically as it is on the Crux or cross in the sky so there is more darkness than on any other day in the year.
If we think of the corresponding events in the human body we look at Kundalini awakening through the 7 chakras.
Matthew 27: 45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
6th hour = 6 chakras, then moving to 7th chakra still darkness until we reach 9. 7 numerological can represent strife, 8 = balance reap what you sow, 9 = enlightenment or perfection.
Dec 22, 23,24 = 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb.. so Jesus taken from the cross and placed in the tomb.
Matthew 12: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Summary so far:
The sun (Jesus) is born of a virgin (Virgo) – seeks balance between physical and the spiritual (Libra) – betrayed by the flesh or Maya (Scorpio) – then crucified of the 5 senses (on CRUX) – and there is darkness all over the earth when we are entombed in our meditation (Dec 21st shortest day).
The sun cannot be reborn on 25th unless it dies on 21st. This is the process of being born again through meditation and die to whom we were. This is the essential meaning of the verse below:
John 3: 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
4. & 5. Sagittarius & Capricorn
Sun is reborn between Sagittarius (horse) and Capricorn (goat).Where does Jesus birth take place- in the stable.
The eastern mind wrote these symbolic things, not the west.
Luke 2: 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
6. Aquarius
30 days after Dec 25th , the sun moves into the water man Aquarius
30 years after the birth of Jesus we have :
Matthew 3: 13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
John = baptizes Jesus into the water (consciousness) Aquarius is cosmically the water bearer so we have the heavens representing the initiation of Christ by John.
The sun moves into Pisces next.
7. Pisces
Matthew 4: 18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Pisces = sign of the fish.
Every day now has a little less darkness because the sun has been reborn. The sun now moves to Aries.
8. Aries
Aries is the Lamb of God & when sun moves into Aries the winter is gone. Ancients would see this as the lamb of God taking away the cold of the winter bringing new life to crops and the land.
Genesis 22: 7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
Burnt offerings are SYMBOLIC and not literal.
John 1: 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Burnt offering = fire of the sun consuming the lamb of Aries (remember sun is in Aries now).
Astrologically as the sun progresses through Aries it rises and moves into the Eastern Hemisphere = sitting at the right side of God
We see this allegorically in the bible:
Mark 16: 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
The sun now moves up into Taurus
9. Taurus
A myth of being saved was by the blood of the bull.
Background to Mithra:
1) Hundreds of years before Jesus, according to the Mithraic religion, three Wise Men of Persia came to visit the baby savior-god Mithra, bring him gifts of gold, myrrh and frankincense.
2) Mithra was born on December 25 as told in the “Great Religions of the World”, page 330; “…it was the winter solstice celebrated by ancients as the birthday of Mithraism’s sun god”.
3) According to Mithraism, before Mithra died on a cross, he celebrated a “Last Supper with his twelve disciples, who represented the twelve signs of the zodiac.
4) After the death of Mithra, his body was laid to rest in a rock tomb.
5) Mithra had a celibate priesthood.
6) Mithra ascended into heaven during the spring (Passover) equinox (the time when the sun crosses the equator making night and day of equal length).
This is the cult of the god known as EL: the bull god. This tablet dates to 2300 years:
We see reference to the bull in the bible:
Exodus 29 : 11 And thou shalt kill the bullock before the LORD, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
This is a sacrifice in the summer in the same way that Aries has a sacrifice in the spring. The sun now moves into Gemini.
10. Gemini
Matthew 12: 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
Brethren = brothers= Gemini.
11. Cancer
Cancer is a time that vegetation starts to retreat back to the earth and is the time when Jesus sees the coming of his crucifixion but before the sun starts its next cycle it enters the sign of Leo.
12. Leo
Here the sun concludes its journey. It is referred to Biblically :
Revelation 5: 5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
(ii) Spiritual Meaning of Christmas Part 2 Summary
Summarising this process, Astronomy (macrocosm) is related intrinsically to our body and the spiritual journey (microcosm):
Solar plexus = ( Sun). Once we find the balance in our life between the physical and the spiritual (Libra) we will be betrayed (Scorpio) by the flesh (Maya). We then submit to the cross (Crux) or the crucifixion of the 5 senses and go deep in meditation (3 days and nights in the tomb) represented by the winter solstice. We then undergo new birth as the child is born within us . We enter into Aquarius as our consciousness is raised from earth to water (Greek representation of states of consciousness), we then become that which is the fish as we are consumed in Christ consciousness (Christ is represented by the fish see diagram), the kundalini then travels from the solar plexus to the Pineal Gland in the brain (Aries) where it throws open the right hemisphere of the brain or spiritual side and summer time comes to our life.
