(i) Introduction to the Book of Revelation of St John

Introduction to the Book of Revelation of St John :The Book of Revelation is the final book of the New Testament & is a love poem from God to Man which was conveyed by Jesus to John in the form of a vision. It was written in Greek & its title is derived from the first word of the text, apokalypsis, meaning “unveiling” or “revelation”.

This book has seldom revealed its true meaning as it has been approached intellectually rather than understanding that it is a MYSTICAL book, like the Bible itself. The word Armageddon has been used in the west to describe this book as a final battle between good and evil but this does not refer to a conflict between nations or religions but rather represents the conflicts within ourselves, between the spirit and the body, mind and the emotions. If there is peace within us there will be peace outside, but if we have conflicts within us then there will always be conflicts in the world. The Armageddon takes place within us and is what we have to face when we begin to meditate to go back to our source and what needs to be overcome to complete this inner quest.

I will cover the Revelations sequentially but will cross reference between them where appropriate and also draw from other sections of the Bible. An example of the way I will be expounding the material is given below:

Revelation 5: 1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.

Introduction to the Book of Revelation of St John

right hand = spiritual side, the left being material. So the Garden of Eden is in the East, fishermen cast their nets to the right side , and there are many more examples of this in the bible.

throne = spiritual realm, higher place ; book written on the inside = inside of us, we have to go within to discover what it holds; on the backside = inside the back or spine where the kundalini rises and prana circulates; 7 seals = the 7 chakras.

So we can clearly see now that it was not intended to describe anything but a spiritual quest which we will now cover in detail over the coming weeks.
