(ii) Thoth Ace of Wands

The Thoth Ace of Wands demonstrates the explosion of energy which is carried throughout the Suit of Wands and is a massive outpouring of force represented by the Lightening Flash on the Tree of Life diagram in the section below. Below we see a torch lit, with vibrant flames issuing forth.

(iii) Golden Dawn Ace of Wands

22 Yods = 22 paths of the Major Arcana on the Tree of Life.

10 Branches of Tree = 10 Sephira of Tree of Life

.

(iv)  Ace of Wands and the Tetragrammaton

The card represents the Yod of the Tetragrammaton, the masculine principle of God, the raw energy and power of creation and the source of ALL the other minor arcana cards.

The Ace of Cups is associated with Heh, The Ace of Swords with Vav and The Ace of Disks with Hey Final.

Thus the minor arcana is related to the 4 fold nature of God, the 4 worlds and the 4 fold aspect of the soul as summarised in the table below:

The Tetragrammaton is the four-fold nature of God and is used many times in original scripture found in the dead sea scrolls (see image below), but has been removed from modern translations. It translates to Jehovah.

(v) Ace of Wands The Tree of Life and Four Worlds

The Tree of Life

The Ace of Wands, like all the Aces is associated with the first sephiroth KETHER.

Kether = the unity, spirit, potential, seed and source of creation. The Ace of Wands therefore represents the potential of the rest of the suit of Wands which has yet to come into existence. The Ace of Wands contains the promise and possibility of the remaining wands.

The Four Worlds

All of the minor arcana and court cards emanate from the Ace of Wands which resides in Kether in Atziluth:

(vi)  Ace of Wands Numerology

Number 1 (Monad) Ace of Wands = perfect unity with NO dimensions of its own (see Leibniz Monadology). However, when combined with other points it has the power to express its potential by creating new dimensions. Thus the Aces of the Minor Arcana are representing PURE POTENTIAL of KETHER which may or may not be realised.

(vii) Ace of Wands Astrology

The Ace of Wands symbolizes the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius coloured in red on the chart wheel below. The glyph for the element of fire is an upward pointing triangle.

The astrological fire signs are associated with the qualities of depth of insight/philosophy (Sagittarius), strength of character/ energy (Leo), leadership/desire (Aries)

(viii) Ace of Wands Symbolism

In the Thoth Ace of Wands, a  large central wand has 10 flames (Yods) issuing from it which represent the 10 sephira of the Tree of Life. The paths between the sephira are also seen in the card. There are 18 lightning bolts in the background of the card. So we have a Tree of Life ablaze with the potential to inspire our creativity to change the path of our life.

Lightning Bolts = 18 in number the Hebrew for CHAI or ‘living’ (life) = all life springs from the force in this card. The monad is also associated with the soul, which animates life in the individual. They are green representing creativity.

The word is made up of two letters of the Hebrew alphabet – Chet (ח) and Yod (י), forming the word “chai,” meaning “alive,” or “living.”

This has found its way onto things like jewelry:

Wand = erect phallus
Yods = ejaculated sperm

The symbolism can be read from the viewpoint of the macrocosm (universe) & the microcosm (man).

(ix) Book of Thoth Quotes

“It is a solar-phallic outburst of flame which spring lightnings in every direction” (p.188)

“The great point is that all the elemental forces.. are Blind Forces and no more” (p.189)

(x)  Ace of Wands Divinatory Meanings

Aces of any suit usually indicate new beginnings and usually very productive ones. Wands are in the realm of accomplishment and are often generally related to your work and career goals. If you are having a difficult time and draw the Ace of Wands in a reading, know that things are likely to be getting much better very soon and you have the potential to succeed.

Ace of Wands Upright

1. The Ace of Wands indicates a time in your life where you have a ‘breakthrough moment of insight’ and feel very inspired and motivated about an idea to move your life forward. It feels like a big opportunity has opened up for you.

2. As the Aces are about potential, this card suggest that you now have the possibility of tapping into your latent potential that has been unused for some time. This is therefore a perfect time to draw upon your imagination and to make your dreams reality.

3. In a more spiritual sense it indicates that you are on fire with your passion for souls journey and discovering your spiritual path in life. There is an opportunity to rewrite you life so you can give time and justice to this most important aspect of yourself.

Ace of Wands Reversed

1. This card represents a very raw energy but applied wrongly can be somewhat reckless and headstrong. Make sure that you don’t get carried away with new projects, rushing heedlessly into something you have not considered thoroughly enough.

2. A period of low energy and vitality. You feel you haven’t the stamina to start things that need doing.

3. Being restless to begin something new but unable to find a direction to put your energies into.

4. This is time to look at what it is you really want to do. Opportunities may have arisen but they do not give you that creative spark.

5. Difficulty in getting your projects off the ground.

(xi) Ace of Wands Throughout The Celtic Cross

Card 1: Central Theme of the Spread: A time to tap into your creativity and explore how you can make your life more spiritual and in a worldly sense, more inspiring and fulfilling.

Card 2: Crossing Influences: you are stuck in a time where you are uninspired by life and dont seem to be able to create the things that you want to feel fulfilled.

Card 3: Subconscious Influences: At the back of your mind you have been thinking about a new direction to take in your life to find contentment. Feeling the need to be more inspired and creative but not really acting upon it or making it a concrete plan of action.

Card 4: Recent Past Affecting the Situation: Could have been a time of immense creativity and direction or if reversed, plans which never quite materialised.

Card 5: Hopes and Goals: to fulfil your potential and be inspired by life.

Card 6: Immediate Future: a time where a breakthrough moment can occur and your life will take on a whole new meaning. A great time to action plans and fulfil your potential.

Card 7: How you are affecting your situation: Implies a need to tap into your creative spark and do something which will make your life more holistic and fulfilling. Use of intuition.

Card 8: How others are affecting your situation: Others may be sapping your potential and creativity or may indicate a need to be in an environment which supports those qualities you would like to develop.

Card 9: Guidance or Warning: You will fail to fulfil your life’s potential if you don’t connect with your intuition and change your life course for one that supports your spiritual needs and inspires your daily life.

Card 10: Overall outcome: new beginnings, exploring your potential in sync with your spiritual and daily life to become more fulfilled. Aligning with your intuition more to explore life and find contentment.

Your Coverage of the Thoth Tarot is comprehensive, consistent, and filled with great visual resources that have provided a great deal of invaluable insight. I owned the Thoth Tarot book (with large deck and medium size deck, I use the small deck as a Talismanic source). Thank you for incorporating multiple World Religions and spirituality as Crowley would have done. I have used the greater part of a year assimilating the Major Arcana. Now, I am mostly through with the Minor Arcana. I have liked and saved your videos. In addition, I have shared your wealth of knowledge in the form of your Website and YouTube Channel with friends. I am a retired Genetic Engineer currently getting back into meditation. I spent the late eighties and nineties with 3HO (Yoji Bhajan’s Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization) in LA and New Mexico. I practiced around 15 years of Tantric retreats with Yogiji. Nevertheless, I have had a rebirth (Death – Trump 13) and your work has been extremely helpful. Moreover, I watch Paul Hughes Barlow as well. Namaste, blessings, love & light. May your hard work bestow upon you blessings of the highest order as you have generated great Karma by providing this profound information to everyone. Love is the Law. Love under Will.
